When I think back on the 2016 New York City Marathon, the word that first comes to mind is fun.
Don't think running a marathon could be fun? See for yourself.
Thank you New York for being the greatest city in the world. Thank you for showing me what it means to belong to a community of diverse individuals who believe in hard work. Everyone in New York city is working towards something impossible. And most days, we don't look at each other, we look through each other. We live in the future and we're always in too much of a hurry to stop and smell the roses.
But on the first Sunday in November, the entire city stops and shows up to support one another. They make hilarious and supportive signs and they look you in the eyes and say congratulations, you're doing something impossible and we're proud of you.
Thank you New York for making my seventh marathon arguably the most incredible day of my life. I'm proud to be a New Yorker.
